Ahead of this Saturday's first round of the Viking Pro Series in Dublin we caught up with Pro Rider Alice Staniford.
Alice will be taking part in the Series for the first time since a one-off appearance in 2017. In the build up to race day, as a keen ambassador for all types of cycling, Alice has been taking part in the public access StreetVelodrome events happening across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
ALICE ENJOYS BREKKIE BEFORE THE ACTION STARTS ON TRACK
"Whenever there’s a gap in the schedule I try to get a few moments practice in on the track ready for this Saturday’s #VikingProSeries race. I’m getting better and more confident but I’m still covering the brakes all the time!"
Alice and fellow Pro Riders Patrick Robinson and Michelle Muldoon have been providing coaching and inspiration for school pupils visiting the StreetVelodrome. This is part of Insync StreetVelodrome's Cycling Futures programme which is supported by DeNovo Bikes.
ALICE SPENDS TIME COACHING THE NEXT GENERATION OF CYCLISTS
Cycling Futures offers greater access to cycling and cycle sport for participating schools. Sessions include demo laps by the pros and fun race experiences for the pupils.
So what did Alice think about her first few days as a StreetVelodrome Pro Rider?
"We had a great day with lots of school trips through the morning and then an open public session in the afternoon before local bike club @scottorwellwheelers came down for a session on the boards"
BUSY DAY ON TRACK
"So great to see everyone excited to have a go and some who maybe never cycled before still being confident enough to get on a bike and try it out"
