WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Three years ago on April 7th 2014 StreetVelodrome appeared on UK TV for the first time with a special live feature on BBC1's The One Show.

Appearing in the feature were Pro Riders Anna Glowinski, Maxine Filby and Adel Tyson-Bloor as well as regular StreetVelodrome referee Nick Jeggo (all pictured).

On the show Anna was interviewed live by presenters Matt Baker and Alex Jones to an audience of 5 million viewers. Special guest Nev Wilshire (from the TV show The Call Centre) then took up the challenge to beat the fastest lap time set by Matt Baker earlier in day during rehearsals.

The conditions were very damp which created an extra challenge for Matt and Nev. However it was Matt who became the first rider to have a StreetVelodrome crash caught on camera. Watch the clip now.

Other TV appearances include a BBC Breakfast feature with sports reporter Mike Bushell going head to head against Olympic medallist Craig Maclean MBE and a report on our Kids Series by Sky Sports Game Changers featuring one of our NexGen Series stars Jayden Randell.

Since its launch over 10,000 amateur riders have taken up the StreetVelodrome challenge. StreetVelodrome events have taken place in a wide variety of locations, including St Paul's Cathedral, Belfast's Titanic Quarter, Broadgate in the City of London, Glasgow, Birmingham and the Eden Project in Cornwall.

We launched our TV Series in 2014 which has seen exactly 352 pro rider head to head races held over 21 events. We've crowned four national champions, Anna Glowinski, Dave Johnson (x2), Patrick Robinson and Jess Stone (x2).

Over the past 3 years we've introduced our Kid Series for 3 to 11 year olds, launched our NexGen Series for 12 to 16 year olds, created the Cycling Futures programme to bring cycle sport to primary schools and partnered with ReCycle to create greater access to cycling in Africa.

 THE STREETVELODROME TV SERIES

We've discovered some amazing cycling talent on the way; from Dave Johnson (amateur rider turned pro in 2014), Rowena Price (amateur turned pro in 2016) and Tom Pidcock (NexGen rider in 2014 turned UCI World Junior Cyclocross Champ) and Corine Moss (amatuer rider in 2014 and now European Age Group Triathlon Champ). These riders plus many more have shown that StreetVelodrome is a gateway to cycle sport and the adventures that brings.

We've brought accessible cycle sport to over 500,000 live event spectators and over 8 million UK viewers have watched StreetVelodrome on TV. And since 2014 each year the Series has been shown in over 80 countries worldwide.

The 2017 UK series is going to be our biggest and best year yet with not only lots of exciting new pro riders, teams and venues to announce but some major new partnerships being launched shortly too.

We can't wait to see what the next three years will bring. And we'd love you to be part of our story. So join in and take part. Find out more click here.
