StreetVelodrome has today announced Viking bikes as their Official Race Bike partner for 2017.
StreetVelodrome is a unique pop-up cycle sport event which tours the UK. It appears in town and city centres right across the country as well as at some of the UK’s biggest cycle sport events. Starting with the London Bike Show 16th to 19th Feb.
A key part of the tour is the UK StreetVelodrome Series - televised pro, elite and amateur competitions which see the best male and female riders battle it out for top honours. Viking bikes, one of the UK’s oldest and best loved bike brands, will provide all participants with equally specified performance race bikes.
StreetVelodrome Series Director Carl Thompson said: “We are thrilled to have the backing and support of Viking Bikes. The whole team has fully embraced our desire to make cycle sport more accessible and we are delighted they can join us for our first event of the year at the London Bike Show.”
Viking has a long, proud history in British cycling. It has been one of the bicycle industry stalwarts for over 100 years and has enjoyed many successes and created many design innovations that established the brand as a world leader in racing bike design.
Viking is distributed by Manchester-based Avocet. In 2015, the world’s biggest bike manufacturer by volume, India-based Hero Cycles, partnered with Avocet adding global reach and infrastructure to the Manchester-based company.
Avocet, which develops bike brands for the independent dealer market - including mountain bikes, road racing bikes, kids and ladies traditional bikes, electric bikes and tandems – designs bikes at the Hero Global Design Centre in Manchester.
They have continued to build on the values of quality, style and durability and offer a range that fits all rider’s needs, from the traditional road bike through to modern electric bikes.
Steven Walsh, Managing Director, Avocet, said: “StreetVelodrome and Viking share a common goal of bringing cycling to more people to inspire future generations. The Viking range encompasses a wide selection of types of bike to suit the ever increasing demands of changing lifestyles and modern environments.
“The Viking brand is about accessibility and entertainment and it’s vital we partner with companies like StreetVelodrome who share that vision.”
StreetVelodrome will be a key attraction at the London Bike Show at London Excel 16 to 19 Feb. For show information visit www.londonbikeshow.co.uk.
