We are really pleased to announce that the StreetVelodrome Series 2016 will be on Bike Channel with the four part series being shown Tuesdays at 10pm, starting from 6 December.
The StreetVelodrome Series is the World’s most accessible cycle sport with free entry for amateur riders, events held in town centre locations and a race format devised to be as entertaining as it is dramatic.
The head to head pursuit racing championship is held on a unique pop up velodrome track that brings all the excitement and theatre of Olympic style pursuit racing to the people. There are seven regional qualifying rounds all of which build up to the all-important SuperFinals held in front of Buckingham Palace.
Bike is the first television channel entirely dedicated to the world of cycling, is now available to over 17 million households in the UK with the channel available on Sky, Virgin and Freesat. The channel inspires and entertains Britain’s growing number of cyclists ready for their next ride.
Filippo Ubaldini, CEO of BIKE Channel said: “StreetVelodrome shows how accessible, diverse and fun cycling in the UK is. The pop-up pursuit track is great for all ages and really exciting to watch as the series progresses. We’re always on the lookout for events that are doing things differently and the StreetVelodrome is taking a uniquely engaging approach. I can’t wait to watch it on BIKE from 6 December.”
Carl Thompson, StreetVelodrome Series Director, said: “We are delighted to be expanding the StreetVelodrome reach to Bike Channel audiences. At our core is the principle of making access to cycle sport easier and more engaging for new audiences. Bike Channel’s free availability across the Sky, Virgin and Freesat platforms shares that same ethos.”
BIKE Channel is available free in the UK on Sky channel 464, Virgin Media channel 552 and on Freesat channel 251.
