PREVIEW: SUPERFINALS - TEAM CORNWALL
Team Cornwall have been leading the Series since Jess Stone's gold medal winning performance at Eden Project for Round 1.
Her consistently imperious race day performances have place the team in a strong lead at the top of the medal table. Jess may be the favourite to take the Pro Female title for a second year running, but her gold medals alone can't win the Series outright for the team.
Jess has been teamed with BMX Flatlands ace Matti Hemmings and for Round 4 in Ballyclare Michael Cowan. Between them both they have won 2 bronze medals.
Team London are just 3 golds behind but with a larger total of silver medals, meaning Team London only need to draw with Team Cornwall on golds for their superior number of silver medals to win the title for capital.
The only other team that can challenge Team Cornwall are the Angels of the North who are 4 golds behind, but again have more silver medals than the leaders. So the pressure is really on Jess to win that all important final gold and secure victory on the last day of the Series.
Team Cornwall do however have a commanding 5 point lead in the Catch Trophy (rewarding aggressive riding). But they sit in 2nd place in the Most Wins Trophy 2 points behind Team London.
Or that single gold medal could come from one of Team Cornwall's qualifying amateur riders too. That would deny either Team London or Angels of the North the chance to overhaul Jess and Matti.
The SuperFinals will be held in Green Park, Central London as part of Prudential RideLondon. Amateur Qualifying starts at 9.30. Pro Qualifying starts at 12pm. The racing starts at 2pm with the final podium celebrations expected around 3.30pm.
Will it be Team Cornwall on the top step of the podium?
