StreetVelodrome are really excited to announce its media partnership with BIKE, the UK’s first broadcast channel completely dedicated to the world of cycling.
Launched in Italy in 2012, Bike Channel has been a huge success and reaches over one million cycling fans every month. In December 2015, BIKE followed this success with a launch in the UK where it is already available to over 15 million households on Sky (ch.464) and on Virgin Media (ch.552), with further distribution announcements expected soon.
BIKE appeals to all cycling fans, male and female, including leisure riders, racers, mountain bikers, commuters and triathletes. An unrivalled range of programmes offers fans dedicated evening viewing across training, travel, adventure, legends of the sport and insights from around the world of cycling. Highlights and over 100 days of LIVE and EXCLUSIVE coverage of some of the seasons’ top professional races accompany a mix of documentaries, entertainment and original programming.
BIKE’s ambition is to become the destination for engagement in the cycling community, and in the words of Founder and CEO Filippo Ubaldini; “…to provide the rest and inspiration between the viewers’ last ride and their next.”
The channel will be airing the StreetVelodrome TV Series later this year and will enjoy brand presence at each round of the UK StreetVelodrome Series throughout the season . The sister channel in Italy has already been showing the 2015 StreetVelodrome Series to great reviews from Italian fans.
Series Director Carl Thompson commented “There are so many synergies between BIKE and StreetVelodrome, with both of us positioned to make cycling more accessible, engaging and entertaining. We can’t wait to bring our own brand of sporting drama and human interest stories to a new audience thanks to BIKE UK.”
The 2016 UK StreetVelodrome Series kicks off on 8th May at Eden Project in Cornwall and will then tour the country with rounds in London, Belfast, the North East, Suffolk and the South Coast. The climax to the series will be the SuperFinals held in front of Buckingham Palace as part of Prudential RideLondon.
