Forme Bikes are the official bike partner to the 2016 UK StreetVelodrome Pro/Am Series which starts with round 1 at Eden Project in Cornwall on 8th May. The tour then continues around the UK with every competitor riding identically prepared Forme race bikes especially designed for the unique demands of StreetVelodrome style racing.
The Forme Longcliffe Hydro formed light weight aluminium frame with carbon forks are the basis for this year’s official race bike. This is complimented by American Classic Victory wheels with Kenda Kadence 700 x 23c tyres. All the bikes are single speed with a freewheel, Barelli track chain set and equipped with road brakes.
The design team at Forme were given a simple yet challenging brief. To come up with a race bike which offered the perfect introduction to StreetVelodrome style racing for amateur riders competing in the Series whilst also enabling the Pro riders to push the limits. The result is a StreetVelodrome specific machine which, after track tests carried out during the London Bike Show, will be launched at the up coming Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoor Pursuits Show at SECC Glasgow.
For many of StreetVelodrome’s expected 6,000 amateur rider participants, this will be their first experience of riding a performance spec track bike on the demanding banked corners. So it was vital that the Derbyshire based design team at Forme were able to come up with the perfect balance between handling and performance.
