StreetVelodrome Series Launched - Race Calendar Announced
The 2016 UK StreetVelodrome Series was officially launched at the London Bike Show, the UK's largest cycling and outdoor pursuit show, held at Excel London on 11th to 14th February.
The launch activities saw pro riders from the 2015 ASDA StreetVelodrome TV Series coaching 100's of show visitors around the iconic StreetVelodrome banking. Many enjoying their first ever cycle race whilst visiting the show. The Pro Riders included 2015 Champ Dave Johnson (here pictured below with guest host 4Music's Vick Hope). He was joined by Patrick Robinson, Lee Gratton, Kelli Salone and Jess Greaves.
The key message was 'Join In' as the online ballot for free race entries went live. Amateur riders from across the UK are being encouraged to take part in the Series, for free, by going to www.streetvelodrome.co.uk and clicking on 'Join In' to register for a place.
But to showcase some of the pro rider talent spectators can expect to see on the tour each of the pro riders at the show took turns to compete in special 'Best of Three' challenges.
Patrick Robinson (pictured below), emerged the winner in his battle against Lee Gratton. Whislt Kelli Salone managed to beat fellow female pro Jess Greaves. Dave Johnson was in impressive form once again, managing to beat all his rivals over the four days of the show. But it was noted that Patrick was getting quicker and quicker with each race. We can't wait to see how it all pans out on tour.
The all important dates and venues which will make up the tour were published during the show. With new iconic venues plus some firm favourites, the 2016 Series is looking better than ever as StreetVelodrome continues to grow.
