Royal Fans Head to Festival of Cycling

The Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling starts on Friday 4 running till Sunday 6 July at Harewood House, north of Leeds.

It’s home to the Official Ceremonial Start of this year’s Tour de France at 11.40am on Saturday 5 July. Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will meet the competitors as they line up at the steps of Harewood House, and will get the race under way.

StreetVelodrome are extremely proud to be part of this weekend long celebration of all things cycling. We'll be there for the duration running 'come and try it' sessions on Friday and Saturday with some fun competitions planned for those taking part.

Then on Sunday, whilst the Tour de France peloton tackle the Yorkshire ups and downs, we'll be running the 3rd round of the televised SportPursuit StreetVelodrome Series right in front of the grand 17th centuary stately home.

Guest riding will be Craig Maclean MBE (Olympic Gold medalist, track). He'll be joining SportPursuit StreetVelodrome Series regulars Ross Edgar (Commonwealth Games medalist, track), Lee Gratton (Pro Mountain Bike), Adel Tyson Bloor (Pro Road) Anna Glowinski (Presenter of ITV's The CycleShow and Mountainbike Pro), Maxine Filby (Pro Mountain Bike) and others.

Uniquely to the series amateur riders can try and qualifying to join in the action, by taking part in the morning qualifying session from 8am till 11am. The fastest riders male or female will go through to join the pro teams taking part and will feature in the Channel 4 show 'StreetVelodrome' to be shown later in the year.
