The StreetVelodrome team enjoyed a great day filming with BBC's The One Show.
Pro Riders Adel Tyson Bloor and Maxine Filby were on hand to demo ride the banked corners and offer the celebrity guests some coaching before their attempts.
In pouring rain the celebrity riders Matt Baker and Nev Wilshire took up the challenge on a much shorten StreetVelodrome course.
Nev managed to follow the instructions of the pro riders to good effect by putting in some steady laps keeping to an easy racing line given the wet conditions.
Matt, with his cycling confidence, challenged himself further by trying the pro riders higher line. But to stick at that level you need pace and commitment, particularly in the wet conditions.
Unfortunately for Matt he didn't manage to complete the bend and crashed! With his helmet, gloves and padded arm protectors there were no injuries (just a bit of pride perhaps!).
StreetVelodrome spokesperson Anna Glowinski did a great job in answering the questions from presenters Matt and Alex Jones with further interest from Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp.
It was a great opportunity to tell more people in the UK about StreetVelodrome. Our inbox was full the next day with interested parties looking to get involved in our 2014 UK tour.
As for Matt we've invited him to try again when the StreetVelodrome Series goes to any one of our planned tour stops which include:
Stevenage on 8th June, Ealing 21st June, Harewood House as part of the Festival of Cycling 4-6th July, Stockton Cycle Festival 13th July, Broadgate City of London July.
Better luck next time Matt!
