StreetVelodrome will feature at Changing Places Day on October 30, 2013, is the first event of its kind outside London. It aims to increase awareness and educate road users - particularly cyclists and HGV drivers - about the challenges that are faced by both when sharing the roads.
The day will be hosted by construction company Bowmer & Kirkland at the site of the Multi-Sports Arena and Velodrome project - currently being built for Derby City Council - on Pride Park in Derby. At the event will be Ian Drake, CEO of British Cycling, and Team GB Performance Director Sir David Brailsford.
Members of the general public will be able to practice on the StreetVelodrome track before trying to set their best time over a 4 lap distance. The best time of the day will win a prize. Mountain Bike international competitor Maxine Filby will be on hand to provide expert coaching to riders attempting the StreetVelodrome challenge.
